Hello my dear friends, supporters, and interested individuals,
For the past five days, I have been staying at Nikki’s Nest in Kerala, located in the southern part of India. Here, we are enjoying a pleasant tropical climate. The daytime temperatures range between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius, while it cools down to 24 degrees Celsius at night. As we are at the end of the monsoon season, we experience frequent, sometimes heavy, but usually brief rainfall. I would like to mention in advance that this period is ideal for both physical and mental cleansing, and that is precisely what I am undergoing here.
The journey here was lengthy and quite exhausting for me. Additionally, I encountered some issues with my checked luggage in Bangalore, which led to a six-hour delay for my final flight. After a total of 25 hours of travel, I was finally picked up by a driver in Trivandrum.
The welcome at the retreat was warm and understanding. Following an immune-boosting tea, a fruit shake, and a meal prepared according to Ayurvedic principles, I was shown to my accommodation and finally had the opportunity to take a refreshing shower.
There wasn’t much time for rest as, just an hour later, I had a consultation scheduled with the doctors – Dr. Geetha and Dr. Praveen.
The thorough medical history examination led to an initial diagnosis. Ayurveda categorizes individuals into three doshas, namely Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. After Dr. Praveen examined my eyes, tongue, and pulse, it became evident that I have a Vata-Pitta constitution, with Vata predominating. A more detailed description of this would be too complex for this report, but in brief, our focus will be on improving my immune and nervous systems.
Subsequently, an individualized treatment plan was devised for me, and my therapist, Baiju, was already awaiting me for the first session, which involved a full-body massage using various oils.
Following the treatment, I was prescribed a medication tailored to my needs, to be taken in the morning and evening.
The guests at Nikki’s Nest are consistently pleasant and intriguing. Many of them have specific health and psychological concerns, while others are simply here for relaxation. The average age of guests is slightly over 45, with women comprising the majority.
At present, I cannot provide any specific information about my health status, but I feel comfortable and well-cared-for. The daily discussions with the doctors and the intensive treatments are instilling hope in me that I am on the right path.
Until soon.
Tilo.
